This professional conference, titled "Aging and Decision-Making Capacity: Clinical, Family and Legal Issues," is co-sponsored by the Retirement Research Foundation and the Gerontology Center at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs (UCCS). The conference is designed to build service capacity in geriatric mental health by cross-training experienced providers in knowledge and skills needed to work with a rapidly aging population. Those encouraged to attend include clinical psychologists wanting to move their practices into the area of geriatric mental health; social workers; psychiatrists; health care professionals; attorneys; and graduate students planning on a career working with older adults. Outstanding speakers include: Mick Smyer (Boston College), Jennifer Moye (VA Boston Healthcare System), Kathryn Kaye (Colorado Neurological Institute), Thomas R. Cole (University of Texas Health Sciences Center), Stacey Wood (Scripps College)Hasker Davis (UCCS), and Cathy Bodine (University of Colorado Health Sciences Center).

The conference site is the historic Antlers Hilton, the only full-service hotel in downtown Colorado Springs and fresh from a recent multimillion dollar renovation. The Antlers Hilton offers beautiful views of Pikes Peak and the Rocky Mountains, heated pool and spa, and first-class dining and conference services.

Sixteen (16) professional continuing education units are available to psychologists through APA-Division 20, and to social workers through the Colorado Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW). One (1) graduate credit hour is available to graduate students through the UCCS Extended Studies Program. Conference registration fee is $450 for professionals, $300 for post-doctoral fellows, and $200 for graduate students. Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credits are tentatively approved for Colorado attorneys through the Colorado Supreme Court Board of Continuing Legal and Judicial Education (final approval pending).
