ASSISTANT OR ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR, HUMAN DEVELOPMENT AND FAMILY STUDIES
SCHOOL OF LIFESPAN DEVELOPMENT AND EDUCATIONAL SCIENCES

The Human Development and Family Studies program at Kent State University is seeking applicants at the Assistant or Associate professor level for a 9-month tenure track position to begin August 2013 with the opportunity for summer teaching and research support. The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in human development, family studies, or related field and evidence of an active research program capable of supporting extramural funding in the areas of positive youth development and/or prevention science. Appropriate areas of expertise might include, but are not limited to: child or adolescent mental health; substance use prevention/intervention; positive youth development; health disparities/vulnerable populations; and risk and resilience. Responsibilities include teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate level; advising students; mentoring graduate students; and developing a strong program of empirical research. Specifically, applicants should be willing and able to teach introductory child and adolescent development courses as well as substantive courses related to their research area at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Our faculty is committed to excellence in teaching and research, and areas of research and teaching that complement those of the current faculty are highly desirable.
