Postdoctoral Fellowship in Lifespan Personality & Health Research

 

One 2-year Postdoctoral Research Fellow position in lifespan personality and health research is available at Purdue University, working with Professor Daniel Mroczek. This position is sponsored in part by a grant from the National Institute on Aging (NIA) and in part by Purdue University. August or September 2012 start date is preferred. The Fellow’s work will use two large-scale, long-term longitudinal studies: the Normative Aging Study (NAS) and the Midlife in the U.S. (MIDUS) study. The Fellow will engage in collaborative and independent research using these data, and write papers with Dr. Mroczek as well as other scholars who are involved with the NAS and MIDUS. The Fellow’s research will be primarily analysis of existing NAS and MIDUS data, and therefore the successful candidate must have very strong data analytic skills. Knowledge of one or more of the following is desirable: multilevel modeling, survival analysis (e.g., Cox models), or structural equation modeling. The Postdoctoral Fellow will also receive training in advanced statistical techniques, longitudinal design, gerontology, and health and personality psychology.

 

Candidates must have a recent doctorate in psychology, human development, sociology, or a closely related field that included coursework in longitudinal methods, measurement, and statistics. Demonstrated interest in personality, aging, and health research is necessary. U.S. citizenship or permanent residency is required.
