JOBS: North Carolina State University

North Carolina State University seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Lifespan Development with expertise in emotion or emotion regulation beginning in Fall 2008. Preference will be given to candidates whose research interests address interrelationships with cognitive processes or whose methodological expertise extends to physiological assessment. The search is open to individuals whose research addresses emotional development across any portion of the lifespan. The successful candidates must have a PhD degree by the time of appointment, and will be expected to maintain a productive research program, procure funding to support their program of research, direct graduate research, and teach relevant undergraduate and graduate courses, including a graduate-level course in the biological bases of behavior (broadly defined). The normal teaching load is four courses per year.

NC State is a land grant institution with Carnegie Foundation status of RU/VH (Research University/very high research activity, i.e., the designation formerly known as Research I). It is located in Raleigh, NC, the state capital, which represents the eastern point of the Triangle area, a vibrant and growing geographical region with access to major intellectual and cultural resources including the Research Triangle Park, the SAS Institute, the National Humanities Center, Duke University, the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, and North Carolina Central University. In addition to a strong program in Lifespan Development and a growing core of researchers interested in aging, the Department of Psychology has graduate programs in Ergonomics, School Psychology, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, and Psychology in the Public Interest. The Department also has affiliations with the Center for Developmental Science and the UNC-System-wide Institute on Aging.
