JOBS: Postdoc in Göteborg, Sweden

GOTEBORG UNIVERSITY, GU, located in Sweden, is one of the largest and most popular universities in Northern Europe. GU wishes to enhance its research base in the coming years. In this context GU offers career opportunities for 40 exceptionally well qualified recent PhDs to perform research at one or several of GU's departments. Appointments will start from July I, 2007, at earliest, and will run for a period of two years. Applicants must have completed their PhD before the application deadline and no longer than three years before that date.

The post-doc positions will be allocated to GU's faculties with the following indicative distribution:

  • Faculty of Arts, five positions
  • Faculty of Social Sciences, four positions
  • School of Business, Economic and Law, three positions
  • Faculty of Education, one position
  • Faculty of Science, eight positions
  • Sahlgrenska Academy (health sciences faculty), twelve positions
  • Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts, one position
  • IT University, one position
  • Center for Educational Science and Teacher Research, one position
  • Cross-faculty research, four positions

The application should include:

  • A statement of the desired host faculty
  • A complete curriculum vitae covering all years since school education including a personalized summary description of past scientific experience and training (2 pages)
  • A list of publications including published, accepted and submitted manuscripts (in the latter case with indication of journal and abstract). In case of other publications a summary and reference to publisher should be indicated.
  • A research outline for the two-year period (I page)
  • A statement of personal visions for career development (I page)
  • Reference/support letters from two senior scientists
  • Documentation of your relevant artistic practice, or equivalent (Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts)

Applicants are advised to contact one or several research groups that could serve as hosts and dis­cuss feasibility of the planned research. Applications will be reviewed by an expert panel compo­sed of both external and internal faculty.
