The Department of Psychology is one of the largest departments at Stockholm University with approximately 130 employees and 1000 full-time students. The Department's main divisions include Work and Organizational Psychology, Biological Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, Perception and Psychophysics, and Personality, Social, and Developmental Psychology. Instruction at the Department of Psychology includes a 5-year psychologist program, a B.Sc. program, a M.Sc. program, and a Ph.D. program. The Department has recently agreed upon investing in new and modern equipment for high pressure liquid chromatography (HPLC) and radioimmunoassay (RIA) analysis in the laboratory. This equipment will be at the disposal for the incoming professor of Human Biological Psychology. Biological Psychology is a core curriculum within psychology and is a cross-disciplinary subject with a focus on understanding and explaining psychological phenomena with the help of an underlying biological development. Several divisions of psychology fall under biological psychology, including physiological psychology, comparative psychology, cognitive neuroscience, and neurological psychology. Biological psychology works upon the hypothesis that there is a close relationship between the body and mind.
Job Description The successful applicant is expected to take a leadership role in the Department, including activity in high-quality research, teaching, and the supervision of students at the basic, advanced, and Ph.D. level, as well as performing administrative duties. According to the new work regulations at Stockholm University, teaching responsibilities should normally encompass, at the most, 30 % of the work requirements. Qualification Requirements In order to be eligible for employment as professor, the applicant must have demonstrated excellence in the international research community, as well as excellence in teaching. Research focus should be current and principally within the area of Human Biological Psychology and should be substantially above the requirements for senior lecturer (associate professor). Bases for Assessment In judging each candidate's merits, special weight is placed upon scientific and pedagogical competency, with an emphasis on experience in conducting and developing internationally recognized research, as well as having experience in administrating and conducting research with a research group. The majority of professors within the Faculty of Social Sciences are men; therefore, Stockholm University especially welcomes applications from women. Swedish is not a requirement at the time of employment; however, the applicant should be prepared within a few years to be able to demonstrate an understanding of Swedish in order to fulfill both administrative and pedagogical work requirements. Please consider joining us for the Division 20 social event at the 2009 APA convention in Toronto on August 7th. We will be attending a Toronto Blue Jays baseball game on Friday evening (the Saturday game conflicts with conference scheduling). This will allow more interaction among Division 20 colleagues and graduate students than a traditional restaurant setting would permit—and it is more inexpensive than many Toronto restaurants. The cost is $20 (US) per ticket. AoA Announces Availability of $10 Million for Alzheimer's Disease Supportive Services Projects
Two Teleconferences Scheduled
Acting Assistant Secretary for Aging Edwin L. Walker has announced the availability of approximately $10 million for Alzheimer's Disease Supportive Services Program (ADSSP) Projects. These projects will provide the opportunity for the Administration on Aging's national network of community-based aging organizations and its partners to strengthen their approach to helping individuals with Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders (ADRD) and their caregivers.
Funding is available for states through two ADSSP Program Announcements: "Evidence-Based Cooperative Agreements to Better Serve People with Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders" and "Innovation Cooperative Agreements to Better Serve People with Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders." Eligible applicants are agencies of state governments, which include but are not limited to state offices on aging.
Two informational teleconferences are scheduled: May 20, 2009 from 4-5:00 p.m. EST (Evidence-Based Announcement) and May 21, 2009 from 4:00-5:00 EST (Innovation Announcement). AoA Announces Availability of $5 Million for Community Aging in Place Programs
Projects will help older Americans to stay in their communities
Acting Assistant Secretary for Aging Edwin L. Walker is pleased to announce the availability of $5 million for Community Innovations for Aging in Place (CIAIP) grants. These new projects will promote aging in place for older individuals by developing and implementing innovative, cost effective, comprehensive and coordinated health and social services including evidence-based disease prevention and health promotion services that allow them to continue to live in their communities among their families and friends. The Community Innovations for Aging in Place program, included in the Older Americans Act Amendments of 2006, is modeled after Naturally Occurring Retirement Communities (NORCS). NORCS are neighborhoods where seniors can age in place with access to necessary support resources including transportation, health programs and social services. The CIAIP projects will build on the success of NORCS while integrating additional innovative models of aging in place. APA's Board of Professional Affairs (BPA) seeks nominations for its 2010 Distinguished Professional Contributions Awards. All nominees must have excellent overall personal and professional reputations. Nominees should not have received disciplinary action from a state board of examiners in psychology and must have no history of ethical violations at the state or national level.

Research involving the original development of procedures, methodologies, or technical skills that significantly improve the application of psychological knowledge and provide direct and immediate solutions to practical problem areas will be considered, as will research that has informed psychologists on how better to observe, define, predict, or control behavior. Original integration of existing theories or knowledge is also eligible for consideration.
· The APA Award for Distinguished Professional Contributions to Independent Practice. The award is intended to recognize outstanding independent practitioners in psychology. Nominations will be considered for psychologists working in any area of clinical specialization, health services provision, or consulting, and services provided to any patient population or professional clientele in an independent practice setting. Services provided to diverse client groups or patient populations, including but not limited to children/adolescents/adults/older adults; urban/rural/frontier populations; minority populations; and persons with serious mental illness will be considered. Contributions may be judged distinguished by virtue of peer recognition, advancement of the public's recognition of psychology as a profession, relevant professional association honors, or other meritorious accomplishments denoting excellence as a practitioner including advancement of the profession.

Services provided to diverse client groups or patient populations, including but not limited to children/adolescents/adults/older adults; urban/rural/frontier populations; minority populations; and persons with serious mental illness will be considered. Contributions may be judged distinguished by virtue of peer recognition, advancement of the public's recognition of psychology as a profession, relevant professional association honors, or other meritorious accomplishments denoting excellence as a practitioner including improvement of institutional service delivery systems or development of psychologically informed public policy.
· APA/APAGS Award for Distinguished Graduate Student in Professional Psychology is awarded on an annual basis by BPA and the American Psychological Association of Graduate Students (APAGS) to a graduate student who has demonstrated outstanding practice and application of psychology. A qualified candidate must demonstrate exemplary performance in working with an underserved population in an applied setting or have developed an innovative method for delivering health services to an underserved population. Nominees may have received their doctoral degree at the time of nomination provided that accomplishments for the award were achieved while a graduate student. Eligible candidates are encouraged to apply from all psychology sub-specialties (e.g., clinical, counseling, organization, school, health) and can be self-nominated or nominated by an APA member. However, all self-nominations must be endorsed by an APA member who serves the function of a nominator.
Each applicant must submit a summary of no more than 1,000 words regarding their work with an underserved population that must include a description of the student's work with this population, the status of the underserved population and number served, nature of psychological services/work done and its impact on addressing the needs of the identified population. In addition, nominees are expected to identify why the group they have worked with is considered underserved. Applicants must also submit a curriculum vita, a letter of support from a member of APA and, in the instance of a self-nomination, verification that the endorser will serve the role and complete the functions of a nominator.
The nominator/endorser will be expected to prepare the text for the award citation, attend the APA Annual Convention (at his or her own expense), serve as chair of the winner's award address, introduce the award recipient and prepare the written introduction for any APA publications wishing to publicize the award.

We are writing to ask if want to participate in an on-line survey that examines the utility and validity of the Pikes Peak Geropsychology Knowledge and Skill Assessment Tool. Please read on.
The Council of Geropsychology Training Programs (CoPGTP) developed this tool to help clinical supervisors evaluate the development of geropsychology competencies in their students, and for psychologists and students to use for self-evaluation of their training needs in the field. We are eager to learn more about the properties of the assessment tool and to get feedback from geropsychologists and geropsychology students on your impressions of its value. Survey results will be used to inform possible revisions of the assessment tool, as well as to help inform training needs within our field.
If you are a psychologist (or post-doctoral psychology fellow) who provides direct clinical care, consultation, and/or supervision of care to older adults as part of your professional practice, OR if you are a clinical/counseling graduate student who has had geropsychology training at graduate school or internship levels (e.g., classwork, practicum, research training), we invite your participation in this survey.
If you volunteer to participate, you will:

The Faculty of Graduate Studies (FGS) of the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka, would like to invite a US Scholar to teach in its Clinical Psychology Masters program through the Fulbright scholar program for the academic year 2010-2011. The University of Colombo, a metropolitan university, is situated in the heart of Colombo, Sri Lanka. Hence, it provides easy access to a wide range of cultural, entertainment and business activities. The University has seven faculties, 41 departments, a campus, a school, six institutes and several centers and units.
Many undergraduate and post graduate programs are offered by the University. The Masters in Clinical Psychology program of the FGS was established in 2008 and is the first-ever post graduate course in Clinical Psychology in the country. Sri Lanka has only a handful of clinical psychologists and this program is envisaged to fulfill a great need in providing trained mental health clinicians for the country. The FGS of the University of Colombo would consider it a privilege to welcome and host a Fulbright Scholar to teach in its Clinical Psychology program. The Seattle Longitudinal Study (SLS) anticipates having a postdoctoral position, beginning in June, 2009. Candidate should have a background in Neuropsychology, Radiology or related fields with prior experience in analyses related to structural MRI or fMRI. Position is available beginning June 1, 2009, for at least a 2-year period. Quantitative analytic skills are desirable. Please send cv and brief description of prior research experience.
The Seattle Longitudinal Study is a long-term study examining longitudinal change in cognitive functioning from young adulthood through old age. The focus of the current study is on examining the association between longitudinal change in brain volume in selected regions and longitudinal change in cognition; longitudinal change in both midlife and old age are examined.
