JOBS: Faculty Position - Associate or Full Professor of Quantitative Psychology and Medical Social Sciences, Northwestern University

Northwestern University invites application for a tenured Associate or Full Professor with joint appointments in the Departments of Medical Social Sciences and Psychology, to begin September 2012.

We are seeking candidates whose research focuses on quantitative methods, psychometrics, assessment, and or psychological/social science measurement with a special emphasis in health applications of quantitative methodology.  Of particular interest are candidates who can build on existing strengths in measurement science and longitudinal modeling.  A critical consideration will be the extent to which the candidate has a collaborative orientation and quantitative focus that will serve as a scientific bridge between the two departments.   This hire exemplifies Northwestern's commitment to promoting scientific integration across its biomedical and life sciences campuses. The position provides a unique opportunity for individuals whose quantitative focus bridges basic and applied research in health.

The candidates will be expected to have a record of scholarly productivity in applied quantitative methodology and engagement in extramurally-funded research. We are interested in outstanding quantitative applicants within any psychology sub-disciplines. Participation in Departmental teaching and training activities and University service are also expected and valued.  Salary will be commensurate with experience and credentials.

The Department of Medical Social Sciences was established in 2009 in the Feinberg School of Medicine to provide a unique scientific home for applied researchers who integrate biomedical and social science approaches to improvement of health and health care delivery across the lifespan (www.mss.northwestern.edu).  The Department of Psychology is in the Weinberg College of Arts & Sciences and its five main areas of research and instruction—Brain, Behavior, & Cognition; Clinical; Cognitive; Personality; and Social—are among the best in the nation (http://www.wcas.northwestern.edu/psych/).
