I am writing on behalf of Danny Wedding, Editor of PsycCRITIQUES (formerly Contemporary Psychology). Danny is committed to finding reviewers with the appropriate expertise for the more than 900 book and film reviews we will be publishing each year. PsycCRITIQUES Seeks Book Review Volunteers
If you are an avid reader of psychology books, I would like to ask you to consider being a regular book reviewer for PsycCRITIQUES (the online incarnation of Contemporary Psychology). I am the Editor for PsycCRITIQUES, and I'm working with APA staff to identify psychologists to review current copyright year books.
We want to pull together a cohesive team of psychologists who love to read and have one or more areas of expertise because of regularly reading a large number of books published each year in a given specialty area. If you are willing to commit to doing one or more book reviews per year, I would like to include you in the reviewer database of those who get e-mail lists of books to potentially review. When you publish a review, you will receive free access to PsycCRITIQUES for 1 year, and those who write at least four high-quality reviews in one year will be appointed to the PsycCRITIQUES editorial board for the next year.
I am looking for more than simple content summaries, and I hope you'll aspire to writing the kind of reviews one might find in psychology's version of the New York Review of Books. Each PsycCRITIQUES review should strive to embed the work reviewed in the context of broader scholarship in the area addressed by the book, as well as describing and reviewing the book.
