JOBS: Penn State

The Department of Human Development and Family Studies (HDFS), in the College of Health and Human Development at The Pennsylvania State University invites applications for a full-time, 48-week, non-tenure-track instructor, beginning immediately, to support development and implementation of our Bachelor`s of Science program to be delivered through Penn State`s World Campus, Penn State's online campus (http://www.worldcampus.psu.edu/). Primary responsibilities include developing and teaching web-based undergraduate courses in development across the life span, family studies and prevention and intervention science. Other responsibilities may include coordinating instructor selection and planning of on-line courses, and teaching resident instruction courses.

Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Human Development, Family Studies, Psychology, Sociology or a related field. In addition, candidates should have excellent writing skills, ability to describe social science material in applied and concrete ways, ability to communicate effectively with students by email, in discussion groups and in person. Online teaching experience and some administrative background are desirable. Candidates must have expertise to contribute to the development of new or existing courses which will be appropriate for web-based delivery. This fixed-term appointment is for one year with excellent possibility for reappointment. Salary is commensurate with experience.
