The report details the high prevalence of mental health and substance use conditions among America’s increasingly diverse aging population and calls for developing and strengthening the mental health workforce to address unmet needs and reduce health care costs. Several esteemed members of the IOM study committee will present key findings and policy recommendations to support a coordinated and effective federal response to the geriatric mental health and substance use workforce crisis.
