Clinical Administrator - Geriatric Services

The UPMC Behavioral Health network includes the services provided at the flagship hospital, Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic, located in Oakland, Pennsylvania, as well as at four other UPMC hospitals and at more than 50 locations throughout western Pennsylvania.

Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic (WPIC) of UPMC is committed to providing behavioral health care services to individuals across the life span.   WPIC's continuum of care includes psychiatric services specifically  to serve the geriatric population. We are seeking candidates for the position of Clinical Administrator to serve as a senior member of the service line leadership team.  The WPIC Clinical Administrator of Geriatric Services is responsible for managing the clinical and administrative operations of the service line including clinical programming, strategic planning, staff management, fiscal and regulatory oversight, new business development, collaboration with research and all business practices within the department.  This daylight position will be based in Oakland (Pittsburgh, PA) with frequent local travel to program sites and must have flexibility for possible weekend or evening availability as required.

Responsibilities

 - Participates as an active member of the department management team in developing and monitoring goals for all programs within Geriatric Services.

- Participates in developing and monitoring budgets for all programs within Geriatric Services. 

- Oversees Geriatric Services programs preparation for licensing and other regulatory reviews.

- Monitors program census and ambulatory program clinical activities to identify problems related to patient census, patient adherence to treatment and patent retention. 

- Reviews census, utilization and other data as needed with Geriatric Services Chief and Medical Director, Geriatric Services program managers and WPIC administration. 

- Participates in the recruiting, hiring and evaluation of management and supervisory staff for various Geriatric Services programs.

- Provides administrative and fiscal supervision to program managers and coordinators in Geriatric Services programs and services. 

-Engages, motivates and provides leadership to employees to achieve organizational objectives.

Requirements

 - Master's degree in a behavioral health field, required

- Doctoral degree, preferred

- Minimum of five years of clinical experience, required

- Minimum of four years of progressive leadership and administrative experience, required (preferably in an academic or clinical psychiatric setting) (clinical and leadership experience may overlap in time frame)

- Demonstrated leadership ability in a behavioral health care organization, including program development, supervision and/or administration, required

- Clear indications of successful communication skills and technical competency, required

- Excellent interpersonal, organizational and problem solving skills, required

- Knowledge of external regulatory requirements such as CMS, TJC, DOH, DPW, DAPL, ODP and OMHSAS, DHS, as applicable to services, required.

-Prior experience with geriatric population preferred.

 PA Act 33/73 clearances must be submitted within 30 days post hire.
