You should have received an email from APA about the current presidential race and your opportunity for voting by OCTOBER 31st. Grace Caskie and I have solicited statements from each of the candidates concerning their interests in and experience with issues in aging, which will be sent to you shortly in the newsletter. This information will hopefully allow you to rank order the candidates in terms of their commitment to aging issues, as well as others that are near and dear to your heart.
The Division 20 Executive Committee has decided to endorse Doug Haldeman. Doug is the only candidate who is a fellow in our division. He has promised to make aging an explicit priority. We feel that that APA must take a leading role in dealing with the critical issues on aging which are facing our nation, and having a leader who has made this an explicit priority would advance this agenda.
Thus, we urge you to vote, given that there is strength in numbers, and to rank Doug Haldeman as #1 on your ballot.
