We are saddened to announce that long-time Division 20 friend and
colleague Fredda Blanchard-Fields passed away on August 3, 2010. Fredda
will be remembered for her many outstanding contributions to theory and
research in cognitive aging. Most recently as Editor-in-Chief of
Psychology and Aging, Fredda performed many important service roles for
the Division. In 2005, she received well-deserved recognition with the
Mentorship Award. A psychology professor at the Georgia Institute of
Technology, Fredda headed the Adult Development Lab where her research
focused on social-cognitive processes in everyday life. In addition to
her notable accomplishments, her bright smile, witty humor, and
insightful understandings made her a valued member of our profession,
and she will be greatly missed.
