From: Bauer, Deborah (CDC) Sent: Monday, May 04, 2009 4:19 PM Subject: Today is Official Launch of New Community Guide Website: Please help Disseminate!

We are delighted to announce that, after a short time of testing the new look and functionality, the redesigned Community Guide website officially launched today! The address is the same, www.thecommunityguide.org <http://www.thecommunityguide.org> ; but those who visit will find a new look, improved navigation and additional content. After much hard work, we have achieved a much greater measure of success in providing user-friendly access to Task Force recommendations and findings.

We welcome you to check out the new Community Guide website, and hope you will encourage your colleagues and constituents to do so as well. We attached several items to this e-mail that provide more information about the Community Guide website -- and make it easy for you to spread the news:

1. Feature article on http://www.cdc.gov/Features/CommunityGuide/ <http://www.cdc.gov/Features/CommunityGuide/> - CDC is running a "current feature" article about the Community Guide for several days starting May 4, which rotates with other features from day to day. Depending on your timing and needs, this article might be useful to you as an additional source of information or as a link in your dissemination pieces.

2a. ListServ/Website Announcement - The announcement appearing in the file attached immediately below 2b is designed for use on listservs or websites. It is very brief and provides a link to the Community Guide home page for more information.

2b. Newsletter Article - The article appearing in the file attached immediately below 2b provides more information about the website and its various uses and is intended for print or web-based newsletters. Hyperlinks are provided in several places for readers who want more detail, which can be removed by those producing print newsletters. For print materials, consider providing the URLs in parenthesis instead. Also, opportunities for customization are highlighted in yellow.

3. E-mail Announcement - Designed to easily distribute via your e-mail lists, this announcement could be followed by a web or newsletter article providing more detail.

4. E-card - The e-card is a fun and quick way to let colleagues know about the Community Guide website and how to access it. Attached is one of two Community Guide e-card designs available to send via:

http://www2a.cdc.gov/ecards/message/message.asp?cardid=316 <http://www2a.cdc.gov/ecards/message/message.asp?cardid=316>

http://www2a.cdc.gov/ecards/message/message.asp?cardid=315 <http://www2a.cdc.gov/ecards/message/message.asp?cardid=315>

5. Link to the Community Guide Website - Please also consider adding a link from your organization's website to the Community Guide home page. Instructions for doing so are available at: http://www.thecommunityguide.org/link/index.html <http://www.thecommunityguide.org/link/index.html> .

We welcome your input about the new Community Guide website and the attached materials. We'd also like to know if you found the attached materials helpful and if/how you used them. Please send comments to: dbauer@cdc.gov <mailto:dbauer@cdc.gov> and khopkinscole@cdc.gov <mailto:khopkinscole@cdc.gov> .

Thanks for all that many of you have done to increase awareness of the Community Guide. We hope that the website itself, and the materials above to help publicize the website will make your efforts easier.

Thank you!

Deborah & Krista
