The Institute of Gerontology (IOG; www.iog.wayne.edu) at Wayne State University (WSU) invites applications for an approved Assistant or Associate Professor position in the area of LIFE-SPAN COGNITIVE NEUROSCIENCE. All candidates should have a Ph.D. in a relevant discipline. Applicants at the Assistant Professor rank should have at least two years of postdoctoral experience, and a record indicative of outstanding research achievement to come. Applicants at the Associate Professor Level should have a record of accomplishment in obtaining external funding and a coherent research program. The position is 50% in the IOG, and 50% in the Department of Psychology. The candidate is expected to demonstrate commitment to graduate and undergraduate teaching and mentoring of graduate students. We seek applicants with research interests and research programs relevant to cognitive aging, its neural correlates and neural mechanisms. In addition to developing and maintaining a productive research program in cognitive neuroscience of aging, a successful applicant will be expected to develop joint projects with colleagues in the IOG Life-Span Cognitive Neuroscience program. Current research in program focuses on longitudinal studies of structural brain changes, their impact on cognition and modification of that relationship by vascular risk and genetic variation; investigations of age-related hormonal changes and their effects on cognition; development of memory and its functional brain correlates in children and young adults; and functional brain development in young children. We are particularly interested in applicants with experience in non-invasive neuroimaging in humans, although scientists with expertise in all methodologies are encouraged to apply.
