CALL FOR BOOK PROPOSALS

Haworth Press is soliciting an author/editor for an upcoming book entitled­ THERAPIST'S NOTEBOOK FOR RESIDENTIAL CARE & ASSISTED LIVING

Activities & Handouts for Professionals in Elder Care

We are looking for a talented author or editor to head up an exciting new venture in our very successful Therapist's Notebook book series.

The purpose of the book is to:

  • Offer therapists many creative resources (activities, interventions & handouts) designed for working with the elderly in residential care and assisted living
  • Introduce the reader to proven theoretical activities, interventions
  • Allow professionals the benefits of utilizing 'field-tested' activities that have benefited client
  • Provide comprehensive interventions for working with issues common in working with elderly clientele, such as meetings between client and family members
  • Provides readers with developed techniques, interventions, educational handouts for use with both individuals and groups

The following information is required:

  • Professional vita or resume for all authors/editors
  • Approximate date when the final manuscript is projected to be completed
  • Table of contents with as many subheadings as possible
  • Sample chapter(s) (1 to 3 if possible)

Structure of sample chapters: Chapters should be structured in a manner similar to the original best-selling Therapist's Notebook (Hecker, Deacon & Associates, 1998) (see www.haworthpress.com). Each chapter should include the following subheadings:

  • Type of Contribution
  • Objective
  • Rationale for Use
  • Instructions
  • Brief Clinical Vignette
  • Suggestions for Follow-up
  • Contraindications for Use
  • Professional Readings & Resources
  • Bibliotherapy Sources for the Client/Group

Chapter Length: 8-18 pages, typed, double-spaced

This book will be part of the Practical Practice in Mental Health: Guidebooks for In-Patient, Outpatient, and Independent Practice series: New York: Haworth Press.

Submission Deadline for Proposals: August 1, 2006
